Irish whiskey Cocktails For Your St. Patrick’s Day!

Go green with the delicious taste of Irish whiskey this St. Patrick’s Day! The luck of the Irish isn’t found by drinking a few pints of green beer and calling it a day. People seem to forget that Irish whiskey is the basic fundamental of St. Patrick’s Day! Whiskey, in fact, comes from the Irish meaning ‘water if life’. Born and bred in Ireland, Irish whiskey’s smooth finish sets it apart from others.

Irish Car Bomb

  • 3/4 pint Stout beer
  • 1/2 shot Irish cream
  • 1/2 shot Irish whiskey

Add the Irish cream and Irish whiskey to a shot glass, layering the Irish cream on the bottom. Pour the stout into a pint glass or beer mug 3/4 of the way full and let settle. Drop the shot glass into the stout and chug. If you don’t drink it fast enough it will curdle and increasingly taste worse.

Irish coffee


  • 2 2/3 oz. Hot coffee
  • 1 1/3 oz. Irish whiskey
  • 1 tsp. Brown sugar
  • 1 oz. Fresh cream

Heat the coffee, whiskey and sugar; do not boil. Pour into glass and top with cream; serve hot.

The Honey Julep

  • 1 ½ oz. Irish whiskey
  • ½ oz. honey
  • 8-10 mint leaves

Mix honey with one part boiling water. Lightly press and roll mint leaves along a derby glass. Fill glass halfway with crushed ice and pour in half the liquid. Place more crushed ice on top and pour in remaining liquid. Garnish with mint sprig.

Emerald cocktail

  • 2 oz. Irish whiskey
  • 1oz. Sweet Italian Vermouth
  • 1 dash bitters

Stir Irish whiskey, Italian Vermouth, and bitters into a chilled cocktail glass, and serve!

The Midleton Mule


  • 1 ½ oz. Irish whiskey
  • ¼ oz. Lime Juice
  • 3 ½ oz. Ginger beer
  • ½ oz. Ginger Syrup

Fill a copper mule glass with ice. Pour whiskey, ginger syrup and lime juice in shaker and shake. Strain into glass and top up with ginger beer. Add a flourish of green with a lime wedge.

Tommy Gun

  • 2 thin fresh ginger slices
  • 1 tsp. apricot jam
  • 1/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • Ice
  • 2 oz Irish whiskey
  • 1/2 oz. Orange flavored liqueur
  • 1 lemon twist

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the ginger with the jam and lemon juice. Add ice and the whiskey and Grand Marnier; shake well. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with the lemon twist
